Statement
Evgeniia Bychina’s work is a deeply personal response to the landscapes around her home in Grenoble, France, and the places she has encountered through travel.
Rooted in empathy and an abiding connection to nature, she seeks to capture not only the beauty of her subjects but also their emotional resonance. Each painting tells a story between place and feeling, blending moments of calm and wonder. In a fast-paced world, Evgeniia’s art aims to pause time, inviting viewers to reflect and reconnect with the present.
Her process is shaped by careful observation, the way she approaches a scene is as significant as the scene itself. She often interprets these spaces through the lens of artists who inspire her: Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne, Seurat, — allowing their visions to infuse her own.
One of her recent series, inspired by her visit of the jardin du Lautaret, portrays serene, peaceful scenes that contrast sharply with the pressures of urban life. These paintings reflect Evgeniia’s yearning for stillness and her desire to honor the overlooked beauty of a single moment, offering a visual respite from the demands of modern existence.
